How we price

Service calls are billed for the time and materials used. For bigger jobs, like panel upgrades, EV chargers, renovations and commercial projects, we can provide a quote when required.

Service calls

Billed for the work done

Troubleshooting, repairs and small fixes are billed for the time and materials used. The cause often isn't clear until someone is on site, so service calls aren't quoted in advance.

Urgent problem? Call us and we'll get someone out as soon as we can.

Projects

Need a quote? We can provide one when required.

Panel upgrades, EV chargers, knob-and-tube rewires, generators, renovations and larger or commercial projects can be quoted. We usually need to see the site first.

What affects the cost of a job

Every home is different. These are the things that move the price most.

  • Panel capacity. Whether your panel and service can carry the new load, which we check with a load calculation.
  • Distance and wire runs. How far the new circuit has to travel, and whether it runs through finished walls, an attic, a crawlspace or outside.
  • Access and finishes. Plaster, heritage millwork and finished basements take more care than open framing.
  • Equipment. The charger, panel, fixtures or generator you choose.
  • Permits and inspection. Technical Safety BC permit fees and inspection scheduling.
  • Utility work. Service upgrades can need BC Hydro coordination and a BC Hydro connection charge.

We charge GST on the total invoice. Permit fees are a separate line.

Permits

When a job needs a permit, we pull it through Technical Safety BC, book the inspector and meet them on site. The permit number goes on your invoice and to your insurer on request.

Permit fees are set by Technical Safety BC and are a separate line on the invoice.

No. Service calls, like troubleshooting, repairs and small fixes, are billed for the time and materials used. The cause often isn't known until someone is on site, so we don't quote those in advance.

Need a quote? We can provide one when required, for example for panel upgrades, EV chargers, knob-and-tube rewires, generators, renovations and larger or commercial projects. We usually need to see the site first.

We're happy to talk a project through by phone so you know what's involved. A written quote usually comes after we've seen the site, because the panel, wire runs and access all change the job.

We're locally owned, so there's no head office to pay for.

Not usually. If you cancel on the day and the electrician is already on the way, we may charge for the trip. Rescheduling is free up to 1 hour before arrival.

BC PST is built into our materials cost because we pay it when we buy supplies. Federal GST (5%) is charged on the total invoice. That's how PST Bulletin 501 treats electrical contractors.
