What affects the cost
Panel capacity, wire run, conduit and mount location set the price. Need a quote? We can provide one after a load check.
Simple install
Charger on the garage wall directly beside a panel with spare capacity and breaker space. Most new builds.
Typical install
A 20–50 ft run from panel to garage through concrete, conduit or an attic chase, plus a new 40A double-pole breaker. Most CRD homes.
Complex install
Long underground run to a detached garage, a weatherproofed exterior mount, or load sharing through a smart panel. Panel upgrades quoted separately.
EV charger questions
Maybe. On a full 100A panel, a 40A EV circuit often means going to 200A. Many CRD installs don't need it, and an on-site assessment will tell you.
Yes. They're safe, and we've installed them for years. Check rebate eligibility before you buy. If the rebate matters, we'll suggest a unit that qualifies.
One day for most CRD homes. The permit and inspection add 1–2 weeks to the overall timeline, and you don't need to be home for them.
Yes. Most Level 2 chargers (Wallbox, FLO, ChargePoint, Tesla, Grizzl-E) are NEMA 4 / IP-rated for outdoor use. We weatherproof the conduit and termination.
Different rules apply. Rebates may be available; we'll check for your building. A building-wide plan usually comes first, and approval is needed before work starts. See our commercial EV fleet & MURB page.
Generally no, if it's permitted and inspected. We give you the Technical Safety BC permit number for insurers that ask.
Yes. Section 86 of the BCEC allows EV energy management systems for load sharing. We can specify a smart panel or load controller so you may not need a service upgrade.
