Privacy policy
How we collect, use, and protect your personal information under BC's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
Amped Electrical Contracting, operated by Amped Electrical Contracting LTD, is an electrical contractor based in Victoria, BC. We collect a small amount of personal information to do our job: booking service calls, sending invoices, and keeping in touch. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what your rights are under British Columbia's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
What we collect
Booking form details. When you book online or call us, we collect your name, service address, phone number, email address, and a description of the job. That's what we need to send the right electrician with the right parts. Online booking, contact and quote requests are sent to us by email through Netlify Forms, the form-delivery service of our website host, Netlify.
No analytics or tracking cookies. This website does not currently use analytics or tracking cookies.
Why we collect it
We collect personal information only for purposes a reasonable person would consider appropriate: scheduling and performing electrical work, providing quotes, invoicing and processing payments, managing memberships, responding to your messages, meeting our legal and safety obligations (such as Technical Safety BC permit records), and, only if you opt in, sending you service reminders or updates.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
Consent
By submitting a booking request or contacting us, you consent to us using your information for the purposes above. Where PIPA allows implied consent (for example, using your address to show up and do the work you asked for), we rely on that. For anything beyond that, such as text-message replies or marketing emails, we ask for your express consent first, and you can withdraw it at any time by contacting us. Withdrawing consent won't affect work already in progress, though it may limit what we can do for you going forward.
Service providers we use
Online booking, contact and quote requests (including any files you upload) are delivered to our email through Netlify Forms, provided by our website host, Netlify. We schedule appointments ourselves from those emails and phone calls. Service providers only receive the information they need to do their job. Some providers may store data outside British Columbia or Canada; where they do, we choose providers with strong security practices.
We'll update this page to name any analytics, payment or text-message providers before we start using them.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, plus any period required by law. For example, invoicing and permit records are kept to meet tax and electrical-safety record requirements. When information is used to make a decision that affects you, PIPA requires us to keep it for at least one year. After that, we securely delete or anonymize it.
How we protect it
We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information: encrypted connections on this website, access limited to staff who need it, password-protected systems, and secure disposal of records we no longer need. No system is perfect. Your service address and contact details stay between you, us, and the providers listed above.
Your rights: access and correction
Under PIPA, you have the right to ask us what personal information we hold about you, how we've used it, and who we've disclosed it to. You can also ask us to correct anything that's inaccurate or incomplete. Send your request to our privacy officer (below) and we'll respond within 30 business days, as PIPA requires. We may charge a minimal fee for access requests where the Act permits, and we'll tell you the cost before proceeding.
How to complain
If you have a concern about how we've handled your personal information, please contact our privacy officer first. Most issues can be sorted out with a phone call or an email. If you're not satisfied with our response, you have the right to complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia (OIPC), which oversees PIPA compliance. You can reach the OIPC at oipc.bc.ca.
