Provincial rebates of up to $2,350 on home EV chargers in select Victoria neighbourhoods, until Dec 31, 2026. The charger has to be on the eligible list, and the Tesla Wall Connector no longer qualifies as of March 12, 2025.
Power management devices
If your panel can't take a 40A EV circuit, an eligible power management device (smart splitter or EVEMS) can share an existing circuit. BCEC Section 86 recognizes these, and rebates may cover part of the cost. It can cost much less than a 200A upgrade.
Eligible chargers
The charger must be on the eligible charger list. For prices, see our charger comparison guide.
- Wallbox Pulsar Plus: eligible. Up to 48A, Wi-Fi, load management.
- Grizzl-E Smart: eligible. 40A, Wi-Fi. The Classic is not eligible.
- FLO Home: eligible. Up to 48A.
- ChargePoint Home Flex: eligible. 16–50A.
- Enphase IQ EV Charger: eligible. Solar-aware, works with Enphase batteries.
- Emporia EV Charger: eligible. 40A, Wi-Fi.
Tesla Wall Connector: not eligible since March 12, 2025
The Universal Wall Connector and Wall Connector Gen 3 were dropped from the list because they don't meet its data-reporting requirements. We still install them, with no rebate.
If you want the rebate, get a Wallbox Pulsar Plus or FLO Home.
The conditions
- You have a BC Hydro residential account. Stratas and commercial buildings go through a separate process (see the FAQ).
- The charger is on the eligible list, and you apply before the deadline after installation.
- A licensed BC electrical contractor installed it under a Technical Safety BC permit. Handyperson installs don't count.
The paperwork
When we do the install, we help with the rebate paperwork. The application needs:
- Technical Safety BC permit number (we pull the permit)
- Amped Electrical Contracting LTD's contractor licence and ID
- Install date, address and total cost
- Charger make, model and serial (we photograph the data plate)
- Your BC Hydro account number
- The charger receipt PDF (from you)
We can't promise approval. That's up to the program.
We can handle the whole thing

Two examples
Two typical jobs, to show what changes the scope. Each one is quoted after a load check.
A: Wallbox Pulsar Plus, 2018 Saanich home
Existing 200A panel with breaker space. Garage wall, 15 ft from the panel.
- Charger: Wallbox Pulsar Plus
- Install: permit, wire, breaker, mount, terminate, test
- A short run and spare panel capacity keep this one simple
B: FLO Home, 1962 Fairfield home with panel upgrade
100A FPE Stab-Lok, upgraded to 200A in the same job. Exterior wall, 22 ft conduit run.
- Panel upgrade 100A → 200A
- Charger: FLO Home
- Charger install bundled with the upgrade work
- The panel upgrade is the bigger part of this job
There's no rebate on the panel upgrade. Doing both jobs together saves some labour. More on panel upgrade costs →
Mistakes that cost you money
- Buying the charger first. If the panel can't carry 40A, that's an expensive charger sitting in a box.
- Buying a non-smart charger. Only chargers on the eligible list get the rebate, and the Grizzl-E Classic isn't on it.
- Using an unlicensed installer. No rebate, and likely a problem with your home insurance.
- Missing the application deadline. Check the current program rules. The deadline is firm.
FAQ
No. A 14-50 outlet on its own, for a Tesla mobile connector for example, isn't covered.
Rebates may be available; we'll check for your building. A plan usually comes first, and approval comes before any work starts. See our commercial EV page.
iZEV is for the vehicle, not the charger. You can claim both.
No, the same charger rebate applies. For solar-aware charging, look at the Enphase IQ EV Charger. Net metering is a separate program.
Not if it's permitted and inspected. Some insurers want the Technical Safety BC permit number, which we give you.
